Westmead Innovation District has partnered with the Office of the Chief Scientist & Engineer to find solutions to mitigate urban heat island effects.
The program includes grants of up to $100,000 for feasibility stage, followed by up to $1m for proof of concept for companies to trial technologies in this area.
Urban heat island effects are a growing challenge, especially in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, where summer temperatures can be 10 degrees hotter than in the East. Solutions that can assist in measuring, managing and mitigating these effects will offer a noticeable difference to the health and wellbeing of people.
