It is connected and increasingly integrated into the broader NSW ecosystem for discoveries, economic growth and global recognition.
The District is fast becoming a magnet for investment and is already home to the largest health, education, biomedical research and training district in Australia including four major hospitals, five medical research institutes, two universities and the largest research-intensive pathology service in NSW. More than $3 billion has been committed by the NSW Government, universities and the private sector to upgrade and expand the Districts’ health services, education and medical research facilities.
On the traditional lands of the Dharug people, we acknowledge thousands of generations of continuous First Nations connection to the land that makes up the Westmead Innovation District. First Nations people hold deep connection, knowledge, understanding and custodianship of the landscape. The District is home to various clans of people including the Dharug, Dharawal and Eora nations and within the boundaries of the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council.
